Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how [BUSINESS / ADVISOR NAME] ("PolicyMatch", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores and shares your personal information when you use the PolicyMatch website to compare health-insurance policies and request to speak with a licensed insurance advisor. We are the data fiduciary responsible for your information under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act").
PolicyMatch is an advisor-led comparison service. We do not sell insurance directly on this site; we help you shortlist suitable policies and connect you with a licensed advisor who confirms exact terms and premiums at the time of sale.
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to match you to suitable policies and to let an advisor contact you. When you use the search and "Talk to an expert" features, we collect:
- Contact details — your name and phone number.
- Insurance inputs — your age, PIN code, the type of cover (individual or family), your desired sum insured, and the relationship and age of each family member you wish to cover.
- Health information — pre-existing conditions you select (for example diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid). This is sensitive personal data and we treat it with extra care (see Section 4).
- Lead reference — a system-generated reference (for example
PM-XXXXXX) so an advisor can look up your enquiry.
We do not ask for or store any payment-card numbers, bank details, government IDs (such as Aadhaar or PAN), or passwords on this website.
2. How we use your information
- To match you to health-insurance policies that may suit your needs.
- To enable a licensed advisor to contact you with indicative options and your exact price.
- To respond to your questions and provide the service you asked for.
- To maintain and improve the accuracy and quality of our comparison service.
The premium figures shown on the site are indicative; your exact premium is confirmed by the advisor and the insurer.
3. Legal basis — your consent
We process your information on the basis of the consent you give when you submit the search or callback form. By submitting your details, you agree that a licensed advisor may contact you about health-insurance options. You can withdraw this consent at any time (see Section 8). We do not engage in unnecessary cold-calling and we do not sell your data.
4. Sensitive (health) information
The pre-existing conditions you select are health information. We collect this only to find policies whose waiting periods and acceptance terms fit your situation, and to brief the advisor who will help you. We do not use it for any other purpose, and we do not share it for advertising or with data brokers.
5. Who we share it with
We share your enquiry details only with:
- Our licensed insurance advisor(s), so they can contact you and help you obtain a policy. Where you choose the WhatsApp option, your enquiry summary and reference are sent to the advisor through WhatsApp; that message is also handled under WhatsApp's own privacy terms.
- Our technology provider that hosts the database on our behalf (currently Supabase), strictly to store your enquiry securely for us. They process data on our instructions and do not use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We do not share it with insurers or third parties for their own marketing.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as needed to help you with insurance and to meet legal or regulatory record-keeping requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised. You may ask us to delete it sooner (see Section 8), subject to any records we are legally required to retain.
7. How we protect it
Your data is stored in a managed database protected by access controls, with information transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. The public website can only submit enquiries; it cannot read other people's data. Access to stored enquiries is restricted to authorised personnel. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to safeguard your information.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- access a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data;
- ask us to erase your data when it is no longer needed;
- withdraw your consent at any time (this will not affect anything done before you withdrew it);
- nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity; and
- raise a grievance with us, and escalate to the Data Protection Board of India if unresolved.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in Section 12, quoting your reference
(for example PM-XXXXXX) if you have one.
9. Children
This service is intended for adults (18+). Where a family/floater cover is requested, you may enter the age and relationship of children to be insured; you confirm you are the parent or guardian and consent to this on their behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children.
10. Cookies and tracking
This pilot website does not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers. It uses only the technical storage needed to operate the service. If this changes, we will update this policy and seek consent where required.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on the site.
